In finite element consolidation analyses, the required input parameters are the soil properties and the soil permeabilities. The equivalent classic consolidation parameters can be calculated from those properties.

**Cv** (coefficent of consolidation) can be calculated as:

where *k* is the soil permeability, *E* is the Young's modulus, and *v* is the Poisson's ratio.

**Tv** (time factor) can also be calculated from the time of the stage and **Cv** as:

where *H* is the thickness of the soil layer.
